Oaks Cairns Hotel Officially Opens Its Doors

Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites today announced the opening of the highly-anticipated 76-room, five-storey Oaks Cairns Hotel, located in the heart of Cairns Esplanade.

Centrally situated in Cairns, the $12 million property joins 27 other hotels currently open and operating in Queensland under the Oaks flag. The brand-new property offers modern rooms and facilities, including the rooftop Oak & Vine restaurant and bar with panoramic views overlooking Cairns Esplanade Lagoon and the Coral Sea.

Offering breakfast options and light lunch throughout the day, come sunset Oak & Vine will transform into a lively cocktail bar serving Nikkei cuisine – a unique blend of Peruvian dishes made with Japanese techniques and utilising fresh local produce. Highlights include Seafood Ceviche with prawn, octopus and snapper, Spiced Baby Back Pork Ribs, and Sashimi Salad.

Of the launch, Oaks Chief Operating Officer Craig Hooley said, “Oaks Cairns Hotel will help encourage tourism to Cairns, as the region continues to reshape and rebuild in the current landscape. With the recently announced stimulus package from the government supporting tourism in Far North Queensland, we see huge potential for Cairns and the surrounding areas from Queensland residents, as well as interstate and international visitors in the future. The property will also support the local community by creating 56 permanent jobs.”

Oaks Cairns Hotel General Manager Matthew Everson said, “Cairns Esplanade is the beating pulse of the community and visitors are invited to discover the array of culinary gems and attractions on offer right outside their hotel door”.

The Queensland Government is set to inject a $11.3 million package to boost Far North Queensland tourism as part of the government’s economic strategy to assist businesses in their recovery from COVID-19, delivering new tourism infrastructure and experiences for visitors in the comeback of Queensland tourism.

Owner and developer of Oaks Cairns Hotel, Paul Kelly, said “We are pleased to have completed this long term project for the group and are happy to hand over to Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites for its ongoing operation.  The boutique nature of the property with its new rooftop bar and restaurant provides a unique inner-city experience for both locals and future interstate and international visitors to enjoy. The redevelopment of the property also complements the current extensive works being undertaken on the Esplanade parklands and dining precinct.”

After launching the Oaks ‘SureStay’ cleaning program in July for its 55 properties across Australia and New Zealand, Oaks Cairns Hotel will also follow and comply to these industry standards to operate a COVID-Safe property.

“As we welcome guests to the Cairns property their health and safety is our top priority, these additional measures outlined in the Oaks ‘Surestay’ program builds on an already impeccably high standard of cleanliness continuing to ensure a delivery of tourism excellence for all our visitors” Oaks Cairns Hotel General Manager Matthew Everson said. Oaks ‘SureStay’ program utilises the highest grade of infection control policies and procedures developed in line with World Health Organisation guidelines and all COVID Australian Government recommendations.

Rates at Oaks Cairns Hotel start from AUD $139
