Today, Murdoch the Grey Nurse Shark from SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium turns 13! Murdoch is a very special shark as he is one of only a handful of Grey Nurse Sharks that was born in human care. Grey Nurse Sharks are Critically Endangered on the East Coast of Australia and Murdoch acts as an important ambassador for the species – educating thousands of guests to the Aquarium each year about the importance of sharks in the eco-system and helping guests understand why Grey Nurse Sharks are called the ‘Labradors of the Sea’.
