Spread the love

It’s Ramadhan again and with that comes the timely reminder to always think of others through fasting and almsgiving. In a bid to instill a true Malaysian spirit of celebration and reflecting the values of giving and sharing, One World Hotel Petaling Jaya continues the tradition of distributing free bubur lambuk.

16 staffs from various department were grouped into two teams and distributed a total of 1,200 containers of the savoury rice porridge to public at Surau Mutiara Damansara and Masjid Jamek Tengku Abdul Aziz Shah recently. The 90 minutes event commences at 4.00pm and concludes at 5.30pm.

“Food is always the best way to reach out to people; in fact, it’s truly the Malaysian way. We are pleased to be in a position to offer symbols of goodwill through this initiative. Last year, we organised this programme for the first-time and managed to hand out 600 packets of these Ramadhan favourites. We decided to prepare more this year!” said Chris Niuh, General Manager of the hotel.

The tasty bubur lambuk was prepared by the hotel’s culinary team led by Executive Sous Chef, Saiful Baharin Abdul Wahid. Various spices and ingredients including cumin, cloves, rice coconut milk, beef and dried shrimps were used to concoct this iconic dish.

For most Muslims, bubur lambuk is a must have, just like dates during Ramadan. It is normally eaten when breaking fast as it is easy to digest and is also considered a comfort food in more ways than one.
