Pirata Group is pleased to announce the opening of Chaiwala, a sophisticated dining destination in Central’s new cultural hub on Wyndham Street in mid-August. Embracing the philosophy that Life is Chai, Chaiwala offers a dramatic backdrop of creativity for lively and vibrant nights out with modern Indian cuisine.

A clandestine meeting place, British salon Hugger Mugger serves as the entrance to Chaiwala through a majestic, wooden door. Inspired by the colourful hustle and bustle synonymous with India, a sense of intrigue and creative energy flows through the three distinct spaces, the Chai Bar, Kitchen and Dining Room.

“Chaiwala has been seven years in the making. We have been on the lookout for the right location and the right time to partner with our old friend chef Bala to bring Hong Kong a dining destination that serves modern Indian cuisine in a sophisticated and vibrant setting,” says Pirata Group co-founder Manuel.

Culinary director Balaji (Bala) Balachander, an alumnus of London’s famed Benares restaurant, takes the helm of the kitchen with a menu spanning the breadth and depth of India. Encompassing flavours from Kerala to Kashmir, sharable sized dishes offer guests a true taste of modern Indian cuisine.

On the drinks menu, Indian-inspired cocktails infused with ginger, cloves and Indian bay leaves spice up any night out; alternatively, an array of old and new world wines have been selected to match with the Indian menu. Must try Indian beverages lassi and Chaiwala’s signature chai tea latte complete the drinks list.
