In its closed meeting, the Supervisory Board of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH dealt with the last steps before the commissioning of BER and the outlook for the future development of the airport location. During the intensive two-day debate, all essential aspects of future air traffic, including the topic of long-haul connections, were addressed, as well as financial issues, transport connections or future real estate development.

Members of the management boards of FBB’s two most important airline partners, easyJet and Lufthansa, were also available to the Supervisory Board as discussion partners, and reported on their future activities overall and specifically at BER. In addition, the Supervisory Board was presented by the airport association ADV with the developments for which the BER and all German commercial airports must prepare for the next 10 years.

Rainer Bretschneider, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “They were good, constructive talks. It was important to the Supervisory Board to deal with the period in which the airport will have established itself and will continue to grow, even before BER goes into operation.”

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “The BER will also face big challenges after its opening. Our infrastructure must grow with the rising number of passengers, the processes at the airport must always be coming more efficient and we need to offer attractive products in order to make the changeover at BER easier. At the closed meeting, we were able to make it clear that BER has the potential to become a successful airport and we have a clear idea of what needs to be done to achieve this.”
