Parks Victoria has taken out the Specialised Tourism Category at the Victorian Tourism Awards three years in a row for providing specialist, inclusive and accessible tourism services that enable more people with disabilities and from culturally diverse backgrounds to experience the health and wellbeing benefits of nature.

Presented last night at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, this entry into the Award’s Hall of Fame recognises a number of initiatives Parks Victoria has implemented over the past year including:

Ø  a new camping program, in partnership with YMCA, for people with spinal cord injuries at Wilsons Promontory National Park

Ø  the first publicly available wheelchair friendly hoist at Patterson River

Ø  new culturally-inclusive guided Women’s Walks

Ø  resources for children with autism to prepare ahead of park visits

Ø  a new Parks Victoria visitor website with accessible visitor information

Ø  Victoria’s first dementia-friendly designed walking trail.
