Getting to first base has never been so risky, especially for actors and reality TV stars contracted to squeeze in a little lip-to-lip action with their co-stars.

Fortunately, Madame Tussauds Sydney has formulated an infectious-free solution for TV and movie productions to continue filming steamy scenes with zero contact and minimal risk – replace one actor in the shot with a wax figure for human-wax figure kisses.

The Darling Harbour attraction has offered to loan out its figures to any TV or movie productions currently underway in Australia who need their actors to partake in an on-air smooch or two.

A member of the Madame Tussauds Sydney team will accompany the figure on set to ensure its lips, cheeks, neck and any other pashed regions are thoroughly cleaned between scenes. The team member will also adjust hair, makeup and clothing on the spot to ensure thorough resemblance with the actor it is substituting.

Unlike plastic dolls, which some productions are believed to be using, wax figures have a softer human-like texture to help the remaining actor with their on-screen performance, and they come in various positions to accommodate a mix of make out situations from standing snogs to private dining French kisses and more. They can also be used for hand holding and passionate gripping.

“We won’t let productions push aside romance because of a pandemic!” a Madame Tussauds Sydney spokesperson said with the same on-screen passion as a soap opera star.

Nine Perfect Strangers, Elvis, Thor Love and Thunder and The Bachelorette – there are a number of movies and TV shows currently being filmed in our backyard and facing the same issue. Let us help.”
