Global cruise brand Royal Caribbean International’s ship Quantum of the Seas called at Keelung Port today with close to 4,000 international guests onboard, as she is making her way from Tianjin to Singapore over a 12-night one-way journey which also includes Fukuoka, Hong Kong, Hue/Danang and Ho Chi Minh City as ports-of-call. The ship is ending her four-year plus deployment in China and she will next undergo renovation to prepare for her new Southeast Asian season out from Singapore from this November.

Guests of Quantum of the Seas had the opportunity to tour local tourist attractions today such as National Palace Museum, Chiufen Village and Yehliu Geo Park. At the same time, close to 200 local travel agents were invited onboard for a ship tour and lunch, hosted by Josh Wen, Head of Sales, Asia Pacific of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., who shared with them on the latest of this ship for Taiwanese travellers.
New Southeast Asian Discoveries
The 16-deck Quantum of the Seas which is of Asia’s largest and most revolutionary ship class – the Quantum Class – will first offer 34 Southeast Asian cruises over six months from November 2019 to April 2020. The ship will then return for a longer season in October 2020, with a total of 40 sailings over seven months till April 2021– the cruise line’s longest ever deployment in the region for a Quantum Class ship.
Her itineraries include 4-night cruises to Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang) and Penang or Phuket, 5-night cruises to Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), Penang and Phuket and a 7-night cruise to Bangkok (Laem Chabang) (with an overnight) and Ho Chi Minh City. This will also be the ship’s first time in the region for festive cruises of Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year.

The smart ship Quantum of the Seas offers the ‘North Star’, an observation capsule that rises 92 metres over the ocean; ‘Two70’ – a hi-tech entertainment venue; cocktails served by robots at the ‘Bionic Bar’; skydiving and surfing experiences; and ‘SeaPlex’, the largest indoor activity space at sea – housing a basketball court, roller-skating, bumper cars and more. The ship also boasts 18 dining venues with cuisines from around the globe, including imaginative cuisine at Wonderland and Jamie’s Italian by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.
The ship will enter dry dock upon arrival in Singapore later this month, to undergo a multi-million dollar month-long renovation that will give her a new look and feel, as well new features such as the laser tag game and escape room that can be enjoyed by guests of all ages.
