Sale-hungry Aussies are already spending more than last year. So what are we looking to buy after Christmas? And are we spending more or less than others? Australian-owned cashback site, Cashrewards (www.cashrewards.com.au) has found out in its latest nationwide survey. The five things we’re hoping to get our hands on most are clothing, shoes, books, games and TVs. On average, we’ve set ourselves a budget of $1,000 – but we all know what happens when our eyes land on those half-price, 60% and 70% discount price tags.

53% of us are going to shop on Boxing Day, either by braving the crowds or skipping the queue to shop online. No doubt, David Jones and Myer will be most pleased to know that.

59% of Boxing Day’s shoppers will be women and 49% of Aussie men will either give their other half their wish-list or skip the Boxing Day frenzy entirely.

The top shoppers live in the seventeen Queensland suburbs that use postcode 4211 – including Carrara, Binna Burra, Pacific Pines and Nerang, and inner-city Melbourne, postcode 3000; followed by 4116 – Calamvale, Drewvale and Stretton near Brisbane. Meanwhile, South Australians are the least enthusiastic about this year’s Boxing Day bargains.

The keenest Boxing Day shoppers are 25-34 years old (34%), followed by 35-44 (30%), 45-54 (16%) 55 plus (12%) and 18-24 (8%).
