Quokka Birthday Fun

August 27, 2019 Attraction No Comments Email Email

With quokka joeys now emerging from the pouch, it’s the ideal time to snap a smiley #quokkaselfie.

Catch the celebrations from 10am to 3pm with lots of free quokka activities to celebrate – walking tours, a quokka detective scavenger hunt, movie screenings and tips on how to take the perfect quokka selfie.

Getting to the party is fast, easy and great value – there is free* travel and free Island admission for children 12 years and under from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 September and adult return tickets from $50* when booking a Quokka Birthday promotional fare with SeaLink, Rottnest Fast Ferries and Rottnest Express

For those wanting to soak up the full Island experience, Rottnest Island Authority is offering special sleepover packages with late check-out from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 September with prices starting at $249* for a two bedroom unit.

Here are some interesting facts about Rottnest’s much-loved local:

  • The quokka is primarily a grazing herbivore.
  • The quokka is the only mammal that is native to Rottnest.
  • The quokka breeding season runs from January to September, with majority of births between February and May. Joeys leave the pouch at about six months old — in August/September.
