RENOWNED for its interesting and exclusive rail journeys, rail tour specialist, Railway Adventures are encouraging agents to contribute to rebuilding the tourism industry in Sri Lanka, after recent incidents caused a major downturn in numbers, and is offering 15% commission for all sales on the exclusive “Sri Lanka on the Viceroy Special” tour.

Departing on November 5, this 15-day roundtrip from Colombo includes travelling on the highly acclaimed steam train, the Viceroy Special, and includes a selection of art workshops and creative experiences by Sri Lankan-born Australian artist and art tutor, Chan Dissanayake who will accompany the group on this adventure.

Through this rail package, Railway Adventures employs 26 staff on the train for two weeks; there are three operations personnel who work on the tour and two local guides. The economic benefit to these people, their families and communities is significant and they rely heavily on this job for future income.

Like many travel industry leaders, McGregor believes the best way to support a destination is assist with a long term solution and in Sri Lanka’s case this is to look at ways of providing tourism now and for future bookings to ensure the country’s future economic stability.
