Rainforest Expeditions is this year celebrating its 30th anniversay working at the forefront of the tourism and conservation movement in the Amazon.http://www.stevecafeandcuisine.com/

Since being founded in 1989 by Eduardo Nycander and Kurt Holle, the Peruvian company behind the wildlife lodges Posada Amazonas, Refugio Amazonas and Tambopata Research Centre has been one of the pioneers of sustainable tourism in Peru.

The lodges welcome visitors who are not tourists but active explorers, guests whose visits help to generate a positive impact on the amazing Amazon, the lungs of the planet, as well as provide support for local communities.

To celebrate 30 years in the industry, Rainforest Expeditions will be honouring the national and international personalities who have helped to disseminate the company’s mission to protect the jungle through eco-tourism.

Nycander and Holle were some of the first operators to bet on sustainable tourism and responsible travel in the Peruvian Amazon.

Rainforest Expeditions is an active participant in the conservation of its surroundings, leading two key projects: Wired Amazon, which seeks to raise awareness of the importance and fragility of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest; turning its guests into citizen scientists and the Tambopata Macaw Project, an ongoing research project into these amazing but endangered birds, which were the reason Nycander and Holle set up Rainforest Expeditions all those years ago.

Guests who stay at Rainforest Expeditions’ three lodges not only have incredible wildlife experiences, with the chance to view scarlett macaws, as well as monkeys, capybaras, toucans, and maybe even the elusive jaguar in the wild, but they also stay in unique accommodation deep in the heart of the Amazon. And, best of all, they know that their stay is helping to contribute to conserving the environment they’ve travelled so far to enjoy.

From the employment of local people to the preservation of natural habitats, and sustainability projects in land use and agriculture, Rainforest Expeditions has now spent 30 years leading the way in the Peruvian eco-tourism industry.
