Taking place from September 21 until October 31 2018, the magnifique events of Sofitel Wine Days offer guests, visitors and locals the opportunity to deepen their enological knowledge through a round-the-world tour of wines in celebration of wine and French art de vivre.

The traditional wine harvest period in France occurs in September and October. It was therefore only natural for Sofitel to choose this time of year to introduce guests to its annual ‘Wine Days’ program, which takes place between September 21 and October 31.  Sofitel has seen its expertise in wine go from strength to strength, thanks to its master sommeliers, a high-calibre wine library and the exceptional wines served during this occasion. This global Sofitel Wine Days initiative brings together hotels from around the world, hosting events that will delight amateurs and aficionados alike as they discover the secrets of wine.

Wine Cocktails, at Sabrage Bar

The team at Sofitel Auckland have created two bespoke French wine and liqueur based cocktails for guests to sample throughout the duration of Sofitel Wine Days at the hotel’s Sabrage Bar and Lava Dining Restaurant. Price: cocktails priced from NZ$16.

Four course degustation with matching French wines (Every Friday 21 September – 31 October 2018)

Guests are invited to enjoy a four course degustation menu at Lava Restaurant designed and prepared by Sebastian Hindrichs, Executive Chef at Sofitel Auckland. Each of the five courses have been inspired by French cuisine and expertly matched with French wines from a range of different regions. Price: $130 per person, including matching wines. $85 per person excluding wine matching.

Sabrage Champagne Experience – Every Saturday from 22 September to 31 October 2018)

Guests can enjoy the thrill and spill of Champagne as the hotel toasts to the Napoleon tradition of be-heading two bottles with a ceremonial sabre. Mingle on the pontoon while enjoying complimentary canapes and the spoils of the decapped bottles of bubbles.  Price: Complimentary.

French Wine tastings

Transport the tastebuds to France with specials on premium French wines by the glass at Sofitel’s Sabrage Bar and Lava Dining Restaurant. Priced from NZ$20.

Cheese & wine events with French Cheese Master Oliver Poulard (October 15 – 31 2018)

Sofitel French Polynesia in partnership with Air France, will welcome one of the most famous Cheese Masters, Mr Olivier Poulard – an Ambassador for French cheese culture – for a series of events around cheese and wines. A Round-the-world tour of wines to celebrate the 7th edition of Wine Days

In France, wine is an institution of international renown, owing its uniqueness to the wealth of terroirs and the diversity of blends. Whether European or from a far corner of the world, the number of grape varieties is astonishing. With this in this mind, Sofitel will once again present an all-encompassing overview of wines. An array of international wines have been selected by Sofitel’s sommeliers, allowing guests to discover each of their specific features and taste profiles. Australia, Argentina, Portugal and New Zealand – all of these wine regions will be showcased in a voyage of the senses. A number of tastings, ‘Wines of the World’ events, discussions and meetings with local wine experts will be held at Sofitel hotels. Depending on the location, guests will be invited to enjoy delicious wine-based cocktails, take part in traditional and blind tasting sessions and even bid at auctions. Wine will, of course, take center stage during dinners and brunches, with gourmet menus created especially for the Sofitel Wine Days events.
