Since 1975, the start of New Zealand’s winter has been marked by Queenstowners with a party the town now welcomes visitors to from far and wide. For the Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival’s 45th birthday, the planned celebrations are coming together thick and fast with 100 days to go until 20-23 June 2019.

Launching New Zealand’s snow and ski season in style, the Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival 2019 is as fresh as the season’s first powder.

Festival Director Rae Baker says everybody’s favourite events are returning and organisers are ‘turning the volume up to 11 with some rather large birthday plans.’

“It’s a 45th birthday party bursting with events that celebrate and showcase our unique and beautiful wintery region,” said Ms Baker.

“The polar cool of the MoreFM Day on the Bay, the now legendary AJ Hackett Birdman, the 45th running of the 1.2km long Monteith’s Dog Derby on Cardrona, the SKYCITY Ball’s secret location and the Bathhouse stage will host our best free live music line up yet,” said Ms Baker.

The 2018 Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival saw more than 45,0000 unique visitors come to Queenstown, injecting an estimated $4.4million into the Queenstown economy during their stay. The Festival is a finalist in the 2018 NZEA Event Awards for New Zealand’s best regional event, people’s choice for New Zealand’s best event and Rae Baker is a finalist for New Zealand’s best event professional.

“Backed by a hefty family of local and national sponsors and firing on all cylinders after two years of format and creative changes, from mountain top to lake shore, the 2019 Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival will be the best festival yet,” said Ms Baker.

The 45th Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival 20-23 June 2019 programme is under wraps until 9am, 16 April 2019 when it will go live on www.winterfestival.co.nz and ticketed events will go on sale immediately.
