Renaissance Tours has chartered super motor yacht Crystal Esprit for its exclusive use in November 2020 for a twelve-day Birth of Civilisation archaeological cruise.

The sailing will offer its guests an exclusive expedition to Cyprus, Israel, Egypt and Jordan. Highlights include sailing through the Suez Canal into the Red Sea to marvel at Egypt’s ancient pyramids, exploring Jordan’s crown jewel of Petra and visiting renowned archaeological sites in Israel, including Caesarea, Megiddo and ancient Acre. Guests will be amongst the first to visit the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum, planned for late 2019.

This journey will be led by two well-known Australian specialists: Iain Shearer, who has led expeditions in the Middle East, Caucasus, North Africa, the Balkans and Central Asia, including for the British Museum; and Dr Julian Droogan, a Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University and a Fellow at the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain & Ireland, who has written several books on archaeology.

 In May 2020, Renaissance Tours has chartered the luxurious Amadeus Silver III for a tailor-made eight-day cruise from Amsterdam to Basel along ‘Europe’s cultural vein’, the scenic Rhine River.

Celebrating Beethoven’s 250th anniversary, guests will enjoy a series of unique private music concerts and opera performances. They will take in the finest art museums and concert halls and visit Cologne, Bonn, Koblenz, Rüdesheim, Speyer, Mannheim and Strasbourg.

Shining a spotlight on Beethoven’s unique musical legacy will be three specialist tour leaders: classical music broadcaster Christopher Lawrence, previously of ABC Classic FM and winner of an International Emmy, three ARIAs and a Churchill Fellowship; art and history expert Thomas Abbott, an art history and architecture graduate from the Technical University of Berlin; and professional clarinettist Andy Bromberger.

Guests will enjoy private chamber music concerts featuring Beethoven on board by a trio including acclaimed clarinettist Ralph Manno, cellist Jens Peter Maintz and pianist James Voss. Additionally, the acclaimed Schumann Quartet will perform Beethoven’s string quartets on board Amadeus Silver III between Cologne and Bonn.

A visit to Beethoven House in Bonn will be a cruise highlight before attending the Bonn Opera International Gala, performed at the Bonn Opera House by the Beethoven Orchester Bonn and the Opera Choir of Bonn.
