Set on the white sandy beach of Palmar on the east coast of Mauritius, the eco-friendly Salt of Palmar is a breath of fresh air, away from the crowded cities this Lunar New Year. The stunning resort has curated an exciting 3-day itinerary packed with a myriad of festive, culinary and wellness adventures. Happening from 23rd – 25th January 2020, the Chinese New Year Program offers an abundance of fun and bonding with family and friends from USD$267 per person.

In the spirit of joyful reunions and meaningful connections, guests are able to let their inner poet loose by penning Spring Festival Couplets with the SALT’s very own Chinese host, enjoy a traditional Dragon Dance by the Shagufta Group and even partake in an arts and crafts paper cutting session which was then considered one of the most important types of Chinese folk art.

An integral part of every Lunar New Year celebration, festive meals at SALT of Palmar are specially planned to bring good luck for the New Year. Traditional, auspicious delicacies are presented in both their extensive Chinese New Year Eve and Chinese New Year set menus. The menus consist of fish, a staple for every Spring Festival celebration to welcome prosperity, whole chicken to represent rebirth, dumplings to represent wealth due to their resemblance to Chinese gold ingots and many more to complement the festive experience.

Guests who wish to participate in the creation of these dishes will be delighted with the resort’s three Chinese cuisine masterclasses – a skill swap of Mauritian and Chinese cuisine, a culinary extravaganza with Chef Vikram and an educational hands-on cooking class. They can also enjoy afternoon tea with a SALT of Palmar host, learning more about the migration of the thriving Chinese community in Mauritius at the Communal Table.

After indulging in a multitude of delectable meals, guests can unwind with a relaxing massage or join the SALT of Palmar team in thrilling volleyball matches, aqua fit sessions with a dedicated wellness coach in the pool or yoga meditation on the beach lawn.

Every Lunar New Year celebration is unique to the country it is celebrated in and at SALT of Palmar; travelers can expect to create unforgettable and fun memories with their families and loved ones. With bright blue skies, pink sunsets and green sugarcane fields, a festive holiday at SALT of Palmar is the perfect way to kick-start the year.
