On Thursday 5th December, five Rolls Royce cars lined the shores of White Bay Cruise terminal to welcome the return of Silversea’s ultra-luxurious flagship vessel, Silver Muse to the region for a second, extended season. Symbolic of the five Silversea vessels which share the Rolls Royce name, the cars were also present in celebration of the upcoming 64th year of the Rolls-Royce Owners’ Club of Australia (RROCA) in 2020.

Many are unaware that the Rolls-Royce-like names of Silversea’s luxurious vessels are not coincidental but were in fact chosen by the cruise line’s Chairman and former owner, Manfredi Lefebvre D’Ovidio to signal to guests that they could expect top-class service. In 1994, Silversea’s first ship was named after the famed Rolls Royce, Silver Cloud, and has since been followed by Silver Wind, Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper and Silver Spirit.

The five cars ranged in date, from 1929 to present day and offered a preview of the RROCA’s Great Gatsby Rally which will be held in the Blue Mountains in May 2020 to celebrate the club’s annual event which is held in NSW every six years. The large car display will include a variety of vintage, classic and modern cars, and will be held in support of mental health in the Blue Mountains region and Beyond Blue.

Accompanying the vehicles were 18 members of the RROCA including, Jeanne Eve, RROCA NSW President; Bryan Inder, Former RROCA President; and Mark Glanville, Head of the 2020 Rally Committee. Silversea also welcomed special guest Jim Frecklington MVO OAM, as a on board Silver Muse to enjoy a special Silversea hosted dinner. An Australian coach builder, Jim was Designer Builder of Queen Elizabeth II NSW State Coaches and is currently constructing the Royal Carriage for the future King of England.

Adam Armstrong, Managing Director – Australia and New Zealand, Silversea Cruises,

“Few people are aware of our historic connection with Rolls Royce, and what better way to welcome Silver Muse back home than with a fleet of exceptional vehicles. Echoing the sentiments to ‘inspire greatness’, Silversea is committed to providing its guests with the very best of luxury and service, in the same way that Rolls Royce is known for meticulous attention to detail, distinct design and customer experience.”

The arrival of Silver Muse into Sydney marks the start of her second season in Australia and New Zealand, her longest to date. The luxurious vessel will stay in the Australia-Pacific region until the end of March, transporting guests in complete luxury on numerous sailings between Auckland and Sydney, including maiden calls in Hobart, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
