Sentosa Golf Club’s New Tanjong Course will play host to the 30th anniversary edition of the Singapore Ladies Amateur Open.

One of the major annual amateur tournaments on the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) calendar, almost 200 players from 17 countries will take part in this year’s event from June 18-20.

As well as staging the inaugural Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific and the 10th Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, New Tanjong Course has been the venue for the finest female professionals in the HSBC Women’s World Championship.

In addition to the ‘Open Division’ in which the region’s best players will compete for the grand trophy, two other Mid-Amateur categories will be contested at Sentosa Golf Club, a Golf Course Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

Lyn Sen, SGA Vice President and Organising Chairperson, said: “The tournament will be exposed to a diversity of women golfers befitting of its 30th anniversary and marking the growth of women’s golf.”

Leading the local contingent in the Open division is 16-year-old Hailey Loh, an SGA National Squad member who represented Singapore in this year’s Queen Sirikit Cup (Asia-Pacific Women’s Amateur Team Championship) in Adelaide and Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific in Japan.

She is aiming to become the first Singapore winner since Jen Goh in 2015.

Also among the favourites is highly-rated Pranavi Urs, who leads a  nine-strong Indian contingent. Urs hopes to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Diksha Dagar, who won last year’s event but has since turned professional, holding a Ladies European Tour card.

Sen said: “I hope that the Singapore Ladies Amateur Open continues to attract the top amateurs from the region and we will see another Singapore player lift the trophy soon.”
