Small Luxury Hotels of the World continues its expansion as the brand returns to the island paradise of Seychelles with the opening of its new member L’Escale Resort Marina & Spa, the epitome of barefoot luxury and ultimate comfort.

Taking its name from the rest stops made by seafarers of the Ottoman Empire and the French word for ‘stopover’, L’Escale Resort Marina & Spa aims to be a place where travellers can safely disconnect from the rest of the world and fully connect with the natural beauty of the Seychelles. Surrounded by rugged mountains, emerald forests, and multihued waters, this Seychelles-island hideaway is a haven of natural beauty which is also home to rare birds and wildlife. Just 10 minutes away by car from the Seychelles International airport at Pointe Larue, the resort which is centrally located on mainland Mahé in the suburbs of the charming capital of Victoria took three years to complete, officially opened in January 2021.

Sail straight into the heart of the Seychelles islands through the hotel’s crowning glory – a state-of-the-art marina. The resort is the only hotel in the Seychelles that can cater to up to 19 superyachts, with a maximum length of 100 meters, through their state-of-the-art pontoons. The elegant and private marina is a flawless extension of the resort, designed to complement the aesthetics of its natural surroundings. Facilities such as power, water and black water discharge services are available.

The resort houses 25 rooms with a lush mountain or picturesque ocean view, with all rooms fitted with King-sized beds, complimentary Wi-Fi, 4K Smart TV, minibar, Theodor Tea, Nespresso Coffee, an open terrace or balcony with lounges, as well as spacious bathrooms with luxury organic amenities, private chef and butler service and Hermès signature products for The Penthouse and Presidential Villa.

From the Indian Ocean to Morne Seychellois (Seychelles’ highest peak), enjoy breath-taking views of the island from the comfort of your private terrace or balcony. Its architecture is reminiscent of resplendent superyacht luxury with its clean lines and nautical touches, while the interiors are inspired by the dual spirits of the ocean and mountains to create a feeling of barefoot luxury. Textural references have been lifted from the backdrop of Mahé’s mountains to create a unique, timeless series of interior and exterior spaces. Think wood panelling, cream-white furnishings and a splash of nautical memorabilia in the bedrooms, designed by Winch Design – a London-based design studio renowned for their bespoke design of private jets, superyachts and private residences.

The resort’s food and beverage facilities include an all-day dining restaurant where guests can enjoy a scrumptious breakfast with magnificent views of the cerulean waters of the marina. Lunch and dinner will feature international cuisine featuring a refreshing Creole touch. For the adventurous, the hotel offers a range of excursions, including fishing, zip lining, boat tours, island hopping and hikes. Guests looking to relax can soak in the serenity of the resort’s two-storey Eden Holistic Spa which incorporates the healing powers of water through its design features, and includes facilities such as treatment rooms, steam room, hammam, sauna, Rasul (thermal mud treatment), heated infinity pool, Jacuzzi and relaxation areas.

Mark Wong, Senior Vice President Asia Pacific, Small Luxury Hotels of the World, says: “We are delighted to return to Seychelles with the newly opened L’Escale Resort Marina & Spa.
