Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort & Spa recently welcomed 20 persons with disabilities from Puzzle Prints Sheltered Workshop led by Jacqueline Lingham of C.H.I.L.D to the resort’s Nature Reserve.

Puzzle Prints Sheltered Workshop is a Community-Based organisation by C.H.I.L.D. Sabah that aims to provide employment with an environment that offers work-life balance for Individuals with Autism and other disabilities, making them independent contributors to the society.

The children, coaches and volunteers arrived at the resort at 9am. They began their day with a safety briefing at Rasa Ria Reserve – Discovery Centre. Following the briefing they journeyed into the reserve visiting the Canopy Walkway. After a 45 minutes walk in the resort’s Nature Reserve the group then visited the Stingless Bee Corner. The children then enjoyed themselves at the resort’s adventure playground. Puzzle Prints Sheltered Workshop completed the program at Rasa Ria Resort with a light refreshment.

These activities helped introduce the endemic flora and fauna of Borneo and highlighted some of the species of flora, medicinal and edible plants and the various insects that call the resort’s Nature Reserve home. The program was led by the resort’s Director of Recreation & Conservation, Sail Jamaludin and Residents Naturalist, Adrian Dino Joummy and assisted by Ranger Ahman, Leslie and Thim.
