Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah stayed at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa for three days during their Majesties official visit to Penang. The Penang host for the Royal visit, His Excellency the Governor of Penang Tun (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman Abbas and governor’s consort Toh Puan Hajjah Majimor Shariff were also in-house at the same time.

This is The Majesties’ first working visit to Penang since Sultan Abdullah was officially installed as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in early 2019. The King and Queen had a tight schedule during the three days in Penang. The programme included officiating the AlBukhary Mosque of Jelutong, lunch with state women leaders and cooking demonstration by Penang Chefs Association held at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa and dinner with prominent personalities of Penang’s multiracial community at The Top in Komtar. The following day, Their Majesties officiated the state’s Syariah Court Complex at Batu Gantung, visited The Habitat en route to the Governor’s bungalow, Bel Retiro at Penang Hill for tea. Later that evening, The King and Queen attended the State Banquet at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, attended by The Right Honourable Chief Minister of Penang, Chow Kon Yeow, government officials, corporate leaders and officials from foreign consulates.
