Ultra-luxury cruise line, Silversea Cruises, is celebrating the inaugural arrival of its fleet’s iconic flagship, Silver Muse to New Zealand, marking the first time in a decade that the cruise line has brought one of its new vessels to the region. Sailing into Auckland on Saturday 19 January 2019, Silver Muse was greeted with a traditional Maori welcome as the ship docked at Queens Wharf East.

Silver Muse is widely regarded as one of the most luxurious boutique cruise ships in the world, launching for the first time in April 2017. Following her arrival in Port Chalmers on 14 January 2019, Silver Muse made many maiden ports of call in New Zealand as she travelled towards Auckland. Guests sailing aboard the magnificent Silver Muse discovered the authentic beauty of New Zealand, calling upon Akaroa, Picton, Napier and Gisborne. Silver Muse also sailed the majestic fjords of Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound, where guests were left in awe of their mesmerising beauty.
The arrival of Silver Muse to Auckland was celebrated on board on Sunday 20 January when friends and travel partners of Silversea gathered to welcome the magnificent vessel to the region. Guests enjoyed a traditional Maori welcome and a Haka before enjoying a gourmet lunch in one of the vessel’s eight restaurants, Indochine. On behalf of Silversea Cruises, and its partner, the Royal Geographical Society (RGS), Nick Hill, Chief Executive, Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), received a print of an RGS map of New Zealand. The gift to ATEED was presented by Adam Armstrong, Managing Director – Australia and New Zealand, Silversea Cruises on behalf of the cruise line and its partner, the Royal Geographical Society.
Silver Muse offers uncompromising levels of comfort, service and quality for the world’s most discerning travellers. On board, guests experience enhanced small-ship intimacy, spacious all suite accommodations, expansive outdoor spaces and the most comprehensive choice of dining options at sea with eight venues, including specialty choices such as Kaiseki and Indochine, plus 24-hour complimentary dining options throughout the ship. The all-suite vessel carries up to 596 guests in all-inclusive luxury with butler service in all suites.
Silver Muse will now offer a number of sailings between Australia and New Zealand before departing on her Grand Asia Pacific Voyage (Sydney to Tokyo – 74 days), she will then commence her maiden season in Alaska. Silver Muse will return to Australia and New Zealand in 2019/20 and stay for over four months (late November to end of March) – twice the length of the current season.
