Singapore Airlines today announced it will launch a fifth daily flight to Perth from Monday 1 June 2020, subject to regulatory approval, boosting its seat capacity on the route by over 110,500 seats a year.

The new service will be operated with Singapore Airlines medium-haul Airbus A350-900 offering customers the choice of Business or Economy Class onboard one of the most modern aircraft in the sky.

The new flight SQ229 will depart from Singapore at 12:20 and arrive in Perth at 17:25, before returning as SQ230 from Perth at 18:40 and arriving into Singapore at 00:10 the next morning.

In addition to adding almost 24% more capacity to the West Australian capital, the fifth daily service will improve connection times to several key destinations.

London, Manchester, Zurich, Rome, Istanbul, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya and Hiroshima will all benefit from a significant reduction in connection times at Changi Airport.

Customers making their way to Perth from Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Jakarta will benefit from an additional daily connection option.

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr. Philip Goh, said the introduction of the fifth daily service to Perth reflected the Airline’s commitment to the West Australian market.

“Singapore Airlines has been operating to Perth since 1967 and has continued to invest, enhance, and grow our services to the city,” Mr Goh said.

“In May 2018 Perth became the first city in Australia to welcome the Boeing 787-10 and since then we have deployed two new A350-900 medium-haul aircraft and an additional 787-10 aircraft on the route.

“With the fifth daily service from 1 June 2020 increasing our capacity into Perth by almost 24%, we are working with our partners to further boost inbound tourism opportunities and enhance connectivity for Western Australians wanting to explore the world.

“Our investments in the Perth market reinforce the important role it plays in our global network.

“We are thankful for the support of key partners such as Perth Airport and Tourism WA, with whom we share a strong and productive relationship over many years.

“We are excited by the opportunities this new fifth daily service will deliver and look forward to working closely with Tourism WA, Perth Airport and other key partners to make it a success.”

The A350-900 medium-haul aircraft is equipped with the Airline’s medium-haul Business Class and Economy Class cabin products and features 40 seats in Business Class and 263 seats in Economy Class.

The Business Class cabin boasts a 1-2-1 seat arrangement, providing every customer with direct aisle access, while the Economy Class cabin is arranged in a 3-3-3 configuration.

The A350-900 medium-haul is fitted with the latest Thales AVANT inflight entertainment system. Designed with a new user interface that offers a more intuitive user experience and navigation options, customers will be able to enjoy Singapore Airlines’ myKrisWorld personalised in-flight entertainment (IFE) with even greater control.

The myKrisWorld system provides customers with content recommendations based on their preferences and viewing history, while KrisFlyer members can continue to bookmark and resume content, as well as customise and save preferences and playlists for their subsequent flights. KrisFlyer members and Business Class customers will also have access to additional in-flight entertainment content choices.

Complementing this experience, customers can select their choice of playlists from the SingaporeAir mobile app prior to the flight, and then transfer these selections to myKrisWorld by pairing their personal electronic devices with the onboard system via Near-Field Communication (NFC).

Furthermore, customers will have access to high-speed in-flight WiFi with the aircraft equipped with Inmarsat GX Aviation’s broadband connectivity system, offered through SITAONAIR.
