One of Australia’s most adventurous performance companies is bringing its pioneering, high-intensity skate performance to the heart of Sydney for the first time.

Award-winning performance company, Branch Nebula, will transform Customs House forecourt into a unique skate park for DEMO, part of the City of Sydney’s Art & About Sydney program.

DEMO is a raw blend of skating, parkour, dance and BMX – described as a fast-paced, live art performance unlike anything seen before.

With skateboards, bikes and visual expression, performers will rocket through the air among a series of purpose-built ramps.

“Art & About Sydney features works that captivate, inspire and amaze audiences in unexpected locations, and that’s exactly what DEMO will do,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

“This is a performance that will thrill audiences of all ages, with daredevil antics that are sure to get hearts racing.”

DEMO uses custom-built vertical and horizontal planes that come together to create a 3D performance space.

Lee Wilson, co-director at Branch Nebula said DEMO is a tightly choreographed performance that launches bikes and skateboards high into the air, with performers leaving visual traces in their wake.

“DEMO challenges the city and what the city can be, as a pedestrian, a space that you walk through,” Lee said.

“In no time at all, it makes people reimagine what a city is, and enables people to have a different expectation of what you can do in a city, what you can look at, who looks at who.”

Performances of DEMO will take place at 6.30pm on Wednesday 30 October and then twice daily at 4pm and 6.30pm on Thursday 31 October, Friday 1, Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November.
