Winestone introduces a gourmet Spanish Wine Pairing Menu for the month of November to February 2019. This off-the-menu 4-course dinner is exquisitely prepared and accompanied with a curated glass of wine from various regions of Spain.

The first course begins with some shaved Jamon Iberico, served with fried egg and grated tomato jam served on crystal bread. This is paired with Castillo Del Baron Monastrell Tinto, Spain, a decadent blueberry and violet -scented bouquet. This wine offers a full-bodied palate, saturated tannins, huge volume in the mouth, and a powerful, blackberry and soy-tinged finish.

The second course, Gambas, consists of crispy prawns and cod brandade. Bite through the crispy fresh catch and sink your tooth into the fleshy prawn and cod fish. This flavourful dish is paired with Alvarez de Toledo Godello Leon. This Godello feels fleshy and round with pulpy weight. Tangerine and tropical fruit flavours weigh in on the heavy side while the finish in chunky and pithy in flavour.

There are two options to the entrée, a choice of Seafood Paella with Chorizo or a Spanish Beef Stew with Potatoes.

The Seafood Paella with Chorizo is served with a generous amount of fresh catch from the sea; the unique use of Fideua pasta instead of rice, is not a common sight in Singapore. This dish from Northern Spain is paired with Castillo del Baron Macabeo Blanco, Spain. The elegant notes of white fruit and apple with hints of bees’ wax illustrates the juicy ripeness of fruity tones alongside a slight minerality which both leads to a pleasant finish.

The other entrée option is the Estofados de Carne, a classic Spanish Beef Stew served with Potatoes. This hearty dish includes vegetables, crushed tomatoes and red wine, reduced down to give the sauce a dark brown colour and a rich flavour. The stew is served with Pujanza Hado, Laguardia, a light to medium ruby coloured wine, with red berries and fresh, herbal aromas on the noise, followed by a fresh, light palate note reflecting a cool vintage.

Finally, to end off the culinary expedition in Spain, the Duo Crema Catalana with Churros. Freshly prepared home-made churros, served with sprinkled sugar, a shot of chocolate, whipped cream and catalana tartlet on the side. The dessert is accompanied with a bright and sparkling Zeta Cava Brut, it is fresh and crisp with small bubbles and flavours of mineral, apple and lemon zest before a long and pleasant finish.

The 4-course Spanish Wine Pairing menu is available at $98++ per person, with a minimum of two persons to dine. Winestone opens for dinner from 6 pm until 12 midnight (last order at 10 pm), from Mondays to Saturdays.
