After being named one of the unhealthiest cities in the United States a few years ago, the city of Memphis’ current outdoor and sporting offering makes that a definite thing of the past!

Memphis has now extended their sporting event calendar for 2020 with the inclusion of the inaugural St Jude IRONMAN 70.3 half-triathlon for 2020 with a three-year deal. Expecting between 2,500 to 3,000 participants, next year’s event will descend onto the city on October 3, 2020.

Guiding participants through a combined 70.3 mile course, athletes will need to complete a 1.2 mile swim and a 13.1 mile run inside Shelby Farm Park, and a 56-mile bike ride to conquer the half-triathlon.

This international event will be centred at Shelby Farms Park, one of the largest urban parks in the US located in the heart of Memphis, where participants and visitors will have a variety of activities to enjoy during the day. Providing paddle boarding, horseback riding, the Woodland Discovery Playground and more, this Memphis location will have something for every member of the family.

The St. Jude IRONMAN 70.3 half-triathlon will join Memphis’ array of major sporting events including World Golf Championships FedEx St. Jude Invitational, Southern Heritage Classic, AutoZone Liberty Bowl and St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend.
