Regional tourism organisation for Townsville North Queensland – Townsville Enterprise – is encouraging visitors to stay and play on two of Queensland’s best beaches this Easter holiday!
Named in the top two places for Surf Life Saving Queensland’s best beaches* of 2021, Townsville’s very own Strand beach (Net 1) and Magnetic Island’s Alma Bay are just waiting to be explored.
Released to coincide with the end of summer, the annual list of Queensland’s top ten patrolled beaches ranks popular locations based on safety, facilities and nearby services.
With the Strand beach (Net 1) situated centrally along the 2.2km world-class beachfront promenade, visitors are treated to a wide variety of experiences along this palm tree lined stretch including bike and walkway paths, picturesque picnic spots, playgrounds, exercise stations, a water park and restaurants and bars with spectacular water views.
Just 20-minutes from Townsville is the gem of Magnetic Island – with Alma Bay one of 23 beaches on the island. According to Arcadia Surf Life Saving Club president Paul Demopoulos, Alma Bay is “a safe beach, it’s well patrolled for swimmers and there are a limited number of stingers.”
