Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) and Mongolian Airlines (MIAT), the state airline of Mongolia, are expanding their partnership. The president and CEO of MIAT, Davaakhuu Battur, and airport CEO Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, have set out measures to intensify corporate collaboration and improve their products together in a Memorandum of Understanding in Ulaanbaatar on Tuesday. The declaration of principles focuses on measures to continue the successful collaboration between the Berlin Brandenburg airport company and MIAT at BER from October 2020 onwards. These include ensuring that the relocation of the airline from Berlin Tegel to BER Airport in October 2020 takes place as smoothly as possible, as well as the marketing of the long-haul connection between the two capitals and the positioning of BER as the “Gateway to Europe” for Mongolia and adjacent catchment areas in Northeast Asia.

The airport company supports MIAT in renting space and in passenger and aircraft handling at BER. In cooperation with the airport company, Mongolian Airlines will develop a marketing concept for the marketing of the long-haul Berlin – Ulaanbaatar route. The two companies have also agreed to jointly promote Berlin as a destination and position BER as the “Gateway to Europe” in Mongolia and at other departure airports in Asia.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup:

“We are very pleased about the strong commitment of Mongolian Airlines to the German capital. Our excellent collaboration that has grown over many years and our joint adherence to the reliable long-haul connection between the capital region and Mongolia are a sound basis for many more successful years at BER. With the opening of the new airport in October 2020, we will offer our partners and passengers from Asia excellent infrastructure and services in Berlin”.

Davaakhuu Battur:

“The connection to Berlin is of great strategic importance for Mongolian Airlines. We have connected the two capitals for more than 20 years and have thus contributed to the economic and cultural exchange between the two nations. MIAT is very pleased to be able to consolidate our excellent collaboration by putting it down in writing with the declaration signed today. In addition, we regard today as the foundation for even closer collaboration with Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH in the future”.
