SWISS has been honoured for its Terminal E First Class Lounge at Zurich Airport in this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards. The annual distinctions are based on a survey conducted by the Skytrax market research institute of some 20 million air travellers worldwide. This year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards produced no fewer than four first places for the Hub Airlines of the Lufthansa Group.

SWISS has been declared as having “The World’s Best First Class Lounge” in this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards. The distinction, which was bestowed for the airline’s Terminal E First Class Lounge at Zurich Airport, was presented today in a Skytrax ceremony at Le Bourget Airport as part of the current Paris Air Show.

The annual Skytrax World Airline Awards are based on a survey conducted by the specialist Skytrax aviation market research institute of some 20 million air travellers in over 160 countries. “This recognition by our customers is a great honour for us,” says SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Tamur Goudarzi Pour. “As Switzerland’s premium airline, we constantly strive to offer a first-class air travel experience. So we are especially pleased that we have evidently succeeded in doing so with our Zurich Terminal E First Class Lounge.”

The lounge in question is located in Zurich Airport’s midfield Terminal E, conveniently close to the departure gates for SWISS’s long-haul flights. The lounge offers a wide range of amenities including a hotel room, a conference room, mini-suites, a champagne bar and an à la carte restaurant. It further boasts a 352-square-metre terrace on which visitors can relax, watch flights land and take off and (in winter) enjoy a tasty fondue or raclette while taking in the spectacular view of the Swiss Alps beyond.

Lufthansa Group earns four first places in this year’s Skytrax awards
All in all, the Hub Airlines of the Lufthansa Group occupied four first places in this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards. Lufthansa was named “Best Airline in Europe” and “Best Western European Airline” for the third year in succession; and Austrian Airlines earned the top honours in the “Best Premium Economy Onboard Catering” category.

The underlying survey by specialist aviation market research institute Skytrax covers both the inflight and the airport services offered by the airlines concerned, and has been conducted annually since 1999.
