In addition to offering flexible rebooking options and eliminating rebooking fees, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is now providing its customers with further security for their travel plans. As of now, additional Covid-19 services are included in the existing insurance packages offered by AIG. Customers can choose between two options here: “Travel Care” and “Travel Care Plus”.

The Travel Care package provides the holder with a compensatory payment if they are required to self-quarantine at their destination as a result of COVID-19 infection. The package also includes coverage if they are unable to travel or have to curtail a trip that has already begun. In addition to all these benefits, the Travel Care Plus package further covers the medical costs in the event of the holder contracting COVID-19. Any emergency medical repatriation is covered, too. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of the insurance policy.

These insurance options are available with immediate effect to any SWISS traveller resident in Switzerland, and may be booked with SWISS’s existing insurance partner AIG Europe S.A. via direct distribution channels. This makes SWISS one of the first airlines to offer its customers travel insurance with Covid-19 coverage as a supplement travel product.
