Sydney Airport supports the Shire and St George at IMB Bank Cook Community Classic

Sydney Airport is a proud partner of the IMB Bank Cook Community Classic, which helps raise money for more than 70 local charities and organisations within the St George and Sutherland Shire communities.

Community groups supported by the event include Project Youth, Sutherland Shire Lioness Club and Giants Baseball Club, among others.

The event on Sunday 18 November brings together the whole community for an action-packed day that kicks off with the annual open water swim, followed by a bigger-than-ever community carnival at Dunningham Park. There will also be an F45 beach handball competition, fete stalls and other entertainment.

Sydney Airport CEO Geoff Culbert said the Classic was a great way for the local community to come together for a fun day out.

“More than 30 per cent of Sydney Airport’s 30,000-strong workforce lives in the St George and Sutherland Shire,” he said.

“As a key employer in this area and an integral part of this community, supporting this great day and the many causes it helps, year after year, is really important to us.

“Cronulla is one of Sydney’s most iconic beaches and it’s a beautiful setting for this event, which celebrates community, family and charity. Our staff, friends and family have taken part in the Classic for more than a decade. It’s such a fun day and one that also has an incredibly positive impact on vital community services.”

Prime Minister and Member for Cook Scott Morrison has been the event’s Patron since its inception in 2008.

Mr Morrison said: “I extend my gratitude to all our sponsors, including Sydney Airport, which has supported the Classic since it’s very first year. It’s this continued support that ensures the Classic is an uplifting annual event for the whole community, its grassroots charities and local organisations too.”

Sydney Airport continues to build on its existing long-term partnerships and ongoing contribution to local initiatives as it supports communities that surround the airport in and around the St George and Sutherland Shire region.

This year, due to renovations at Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club, the IMB Bank Cook Community Classic Carnival will be held at Dunningham Park, North Cronulla. For more information visit
