Sydney Opera House presents scorching summer line-up

Champagne cocktails, captivating cabaret, fiery salsa music and seductive contemporary dance. Summer at the Sydney Opera House is set to sizzle with a scorching line-up of boundary-pushing performances, stellar music and decadent drinks and dining.

Fiona Winning, Sydney Opera House Head of Programming says: “This summer we’ve turned up the heat with an unmissable line-up. Whether you’re a foodie fanatic, cabaret connoisseur or simply after a sunset drink with the best harbour views in Sydney, there’s something for you at the Opera House all summer.”

The Blanc Bar at Portside Sydney is the newest sundowner hotspot with a champagne and gin cocktail pop-up, DJs spinning into the night and an indulgent Parisian-inspired menu featuring the likes of gin-cured ocean trout with cucumber jelly, radish and native lime and elderflower dressing and Sydney rock oysters with verjus vinaigrette (until 4 Feb). Inside the Studio, the world premiere of Blanc de Blanc Encore serves up an effortless blend of refined glamour and risqué humour in a sizzling circus-cabaret show that’ll have you at the edge of your seat (until 9 Mar).

Salsa-fuelled sass takes over the Concert Hall as Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights explores the cultural melting pot of vibrant Washington Heights NYC (16-20 Jan). The party continues off stage at Fiesta Bar – a lively pop-up bar in the Northern Foyer where patrons can dance the night away under festoons of flags and lights and sample Latin-inspired fare including margaritas, tacos and empanadas (until 20 Jan).

Lots of fun for little ones, 91-Storey Treehouse explores the nutty and fantastical world of Andy Griffiths’ and Terry Denton’s best-selling book as it grows ever more dangerous (until 20 Jan) while Wolfgang’s Magical Musical Circus captures Mozart’s irrepressible spirit and vibrant compositions through physical comedy and mischievous antics (15-25 Jan). Curious kids can discover how the magic of theatre comes alive on the Junior Adventure Tour learning unusual facts and mysterious secrets along the way with theatrical dress ups to bring out the star within (6-27 Jan).

Foodies and aspiring cooks can spend An Evening with Ottolenghi – the chef who revolutionised the way we cook, eat and entertain by making tahini and pomegranate molasses pantry staples across the world (29 Jan). And for those who love eating as much as cooking, Taste of the Opera House showcases the unique offerings of the Opera House’s leading restaurants on an intimate degustation tour offering sparkling Sydney Harbour views, insider tales of rock stars and a side of modern Australian culture (3 Feb).

Love will be in the air this Valentine’s Day when Australian legends John Butler Trio & Missy Higgins take to the iconic steps to deliver new and old favourites in an unmissable Forecourt double bill (14-15 February). Exploring obsessive passionate love, and the dark days following romantic adversity, Love Cycle: OCD Love and Love Chapter 2 is a visceral and seductive two-part performance from Israel’s world-renowned L-E-V Dance Company (31 Jan-3 Feb). For the ultimate indulgence, Peter Gilmore’s Valentine’s Day menu at Bennelong will treat someone special to canapes and a cocktail on arrival, and a three course menu to enjoy nestled beneath the sails.
