According to the 2019 edition of CEOWORLD magazine’s Health Care Index, Taiwan has the best health care systems in the world, ranked at No. 1.

The Health Care Index is a statistical analysis of the overall quality of the health care system, including health care infrastructure, health care professionals (doctors, nursing staff, and other health workers) competencies, cost (USD p.a.per capita), availability of quality medicine, and government readiness. The Index also takes into consideration other factors that include environment, access to clean water, sanitation, government readiness on imposing penalties on risks such as tobacco use, and obesity.

Despite the worldwide growing number of confirmed 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, the risk of infection to international travellers within Taiwan is still considered low to minimal. Disease control procedures are implemented at all international airports and ports to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all visitors to Taiwan. Health officials and medical personnel in Taiwan are experienced in dealing with medical conditions, such as SARS, avian flu, and other serious ailments. With medical talent, experienced officers, and the best health care system, authorities in Taiwan are taking proactive measures in response to COVID-19. Efforts have been recognized as both life-science and medical-related international conferences continue to make Taiwan their destination choice.

With world-class congress infrastructure, Taiwan has seen thousands of international attendees, and there will continue to be more in the future. This year, there was the 9th World Congress of Facial Plastic Surgery (IFFPSS 2020) in February and an International Meeting of the Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group scheduled for September.
