The San Diego Travel & Adventure Show, the nation’s largest travel show, will took place on January 18th and 19th at the San Diego Convention Center. This year, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau embraces a new theme of “Year of Mountain Tourism” and branded Taiwan as an international mountaineering tourism destination with the highlights on peculiarity, adventure, steepness, and beauty.

“2020 is the Year of Mountain Tourism in Taiwan. Endowed with the world-class resources of ‘one-hundred peaks’, as well as unique natural landscapes, versatile ecology and bio-diversity, historic trails, and rich indigenous tribal culture, Taiwan has attracted many hikers to come visit every year. The Bureau is offering 24 classic hiking routes covering the 5 principal mountain ranges: Central Mountain Range, Xueshan Range, Yushan Range, Alishan Range, and Coastal Mountain Range, catered by indigenous tribes and travel agencies,” says Brad Shih, Director of Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s Los Angeles office.

During this two-day show, the Tourism Bureau hosted many exciting events to promote Taiwan. On both days of the event at the Global Beats Stage, Taiwan cultural dances were showcased; presentations of Taiwan Travel tips were held at the Travel Theatre where industry leaders and travelers looked at different perspectives of Taiwan.

China Airlines, Eva Air, Air Canada and SITA World Tours were at the show to promote their latest Taiwan routes and special value packages. Air Canada offered a 15% discount code for economy class, and a 10% discount code for business class on their San Diego-Taipei flights. A tea sampling activity will be held by TenRen Tea.

Visitors entered a raffle to win Los Angeles-Taipei round trip tickets sponsored by China Airlines and Eva Air respectively, as well as a $200 gift card, two international lounge passes, and two domestic lounge passes from Air Canada. The Tourism Bureau also gave away 2020 The Year of Mountain Tourism calendars and notepads as well as limited edition handheld lanterns as giveaways to the public.
