We might all be staying at home right now, but NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a genius way to take a virtual hike.Get out to that favourite track you’ve been missing, finally get around to doing an iconic walk you’ve always wanted to try, or discover a NSW national park you’ve never visited before via Google Trekker.
In partnership with Google, NPWS rangers and staff hit the tracks and trails in mountain, coastline and outback areas across the state to capture more than 1350 kilometres of imagery and footage in over 50 NSW national parks using Google’s special backpack-mounted trekker.

There are hundreds of experiences to discover, but we’ve picked some of our favourites to get you started:
• Thredbo to Mount Kosciuszko, Kosciuszko National Park
For: An alpine hike to Australia’s highest peak: the summit of Mt Kosciuszko.
• Cliff Top walking track, Blue Mountains National Park
For: Getting your fix of the famous Blue Mountains escarpment and its beautiful hues.
• Walls of China, Mungo National Park
For: A journey to the outback to find otherworldly, moon-like sand-shaped clay dunes, and a special place rich in 40,000-plus years of Aboriginal cultural history.
• White Sands walk and Scribbly Gum track, Jervis Bay National Park
For: Virtually soaking up the last of the warm weather on a coastal forest track passing the white sandy beaches and sparkling ocean of the south coast.
• Jillabenan Cave, Yarrangobilly Caves, Kosciuszko National Park
For: Disappearing into the underground world of caves and their jaw-dropping delicate formations.
• Breadknife and Grand High Tops walking track, Warrumbungle National Park
For: A trip to central-west NSW for sweeping vistas of rugged volcanic landscape along a challenging hike regarded as one of the best in NSW.
• Tomaree Head summit walk, Tomaree National Park
For: panoramic views looking out over Port Stephens coastline and islands, minus the climb.
