The island of Ireland is getting ready to showcase its world-class food scene this autumn in a major new event: Taste the Island, a celebration of Ireland’s food and drink.

Taste the Island is a brand-new all-island event, highlighting the exceptional level of quality food and drink produced in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The initiative is the first of its kind for the island of Ireland and will take place from 6 September to 30 November, beginning with A Taste of West Cork festival in County Cork.

Innovative artisan producers and world-class chefs are coming together in kitchens all around the island to create one of the most exciting food events in the world, with more than 500 food and drink-related experiences for visitors to savour.

Visitors will find out why there has never been a more exciting time to discover the food scene on the island of Ireland. Among the many experiences to enjoy are food trails and tours along the windswept coasts of the Wild Atlantic Way and the Causeway Coastal Route; distillery and brewery tours featuring hands-on workshops; buzzing food festivals and farmers’ markets, and hundreds of opportunities to meet the makers who are bringing together fresh, local ingredients to create incredible flavours.

Some of the highlights include a Harvest Moon Supper at Hook Lighthouse where guests can dine while enjoying the sunset and the Harvest moon rise over Hook peninsula in County Wexford; a celebration of food and cider in the fruit-laden orchards of County Armagh; a feast at the foot of Mount Errigal where chefs from County Donegal will create a unique dining experience; A Taste of West Cork Festival; Galway International Seafood and Oyster Festival; Taste Causeway, a series of culinary tours and events along the County Antrim coast; Slow Food Festival in Derry-Londonderry; Wild Food Foraging experiences; Oyster Shucking experiences and Whiskey Distillery Trails.

This autumn, Taste the Island will illustrate how unique and exciting the island of Ireland’s locally produced food and drink can be.
