Legend has it that the very first tea leaf plucked by man were eaten… Join chef Tommy Choong at Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant this July, as he combines his expertise with Chinese teas and teamed with his wonderfully diverse kitchen brigade to produce tea-based dishes.

Thinking outside of the teacup, the results are some pretty delicious dishes which include Crispy Prawns stuffed with Yam and Pumpkin served with Green Tea Dressing, Double Boiled Abalone and Fish Maw Soup with Chrysanthemum, Smoked Village Chicken with Oolong, Braised Minced Chicken with Homemade Bean Curd and Tiegueanyin, Stir Fried Shrimps with Longjing and Stir Fried Rice with Green Tea and Assorted Seafood “Hakka” Style.
This master chef is fond of using tea for his cooking and claimed that tea leaves is a distinctive spice that adds a touch of exotic essence to familiar flavours. “I think tea is an interesting flavour. It has stood the test of time, being the second most consumed beverage worldwide after water today” said Choong.

Apart from the mentioned, Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant also dishes out mean version of dim sums. Some of the must try are Steamed Phoenix Eye Dumpling with Water Chestnut and Goose Liver, Steamed Hong Kong Rice Roll with Chinese Breadstick and Chicken Floss, Steamed Signature ”Siew Mai” with Flying Fish Roe and Pan Fried Bun with Minced Chicken and Assorted Vegetable to name a few…
