THAI Flies Stranded Thais in Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia Home

Sqn. Ldr. Anirute Sangrit, Vice President, Flight Operations Department, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), and Head of THAI Operations Control Center (TOCC), said THAI cooperated with Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Australian Embassy Bangkok, and the Royal Thai Embassies in Canberra and Jakarta to operate Bangkok-Perth-Jakarta-Bangkok chartered flights during 17-18 June 2020 to fly stranded Thais in Australia, for the fifth time, and Indonesia as well as stranded Australians in Thailand back home.

A total of 259 Thais traveled on 18 June 2020 on chartered flight TG434 from Perth at 07.18 hours (local time) to Jakarta at 10.24 hours (local time); departed from Jakarta at 12.41 hours (local time) and arrived in Bangkok at 15.56 hours.

In addition, THAI cooperated with Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the New Zealand Embassy Bangkok, and the Royal Thai Embassy in Wellington to operate Bangkok-Sydney-Auckland-Bangkok chartered flights during 16-17 June 2020 to fly stranded New Zealanders in Thailand and stranded Thais in New Zealand back home for the second time. Cargo service was operated on Bangkok-Sydney flight.

On 17 June 2020, THAI flew 177 stranded Thais in New Zealand back home on chartered flight TG492 from Auckland at 14.00 hours (local time) to Bangkok at 20.42 hours.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, physical distancing procedures were applied at every service area. Cabin crew strictly conformed to safety measures while providing onboard services.

THAI is always prepared to operate special flights to fly Thais home during this difficult time. Staff from THAI and organizations concerned accommodated passengers. THAI also delivered cargo on flights from and to Bangkok.
