Throughout this period, Spotify streaming data shows that there are spikes in the streaming for both official anthems and unofficial football anthems. A moment worth highlighting is the 2,190% increase in streams of Korean electro hit “Gangnam Style” by Mexican fans for South Korea’s victory over Germany.

In fact, after France’s first World Cup title in 20 years, the streams of their popular football anthem “I Will Survive” increased by 2,066% in France while its national anthem “La Marseillaise” streamed worldwide increased by 703%.
