The first edition of the MICHELIN Guide Dining Series 2019 was organized early April with a special collaboration between Canvas and Saawaan, two of the new additions to the one-starred establishments in the recently-released MICHELIN Guide Bangkok, Phuket and Phang-Nga. This event – a series of highly exclusive, quarterly curated collaborations between chefs of starred-restaurants – took place on two consecutive nights: one at Saawan, and the other at Canvas.

Under “A Day in Bangkok” theme, the first 2019 edition featured a dinner journey that reinterpreted Bangkok’s world-renowned street food from dawn to dusk through an 8-course feast, paired with carefully selected wines and champagne. Each dish portrayed a picture of the changing landscape along the city’s streets – one-of-akind creations that not only showcased the chef’s individual personalities and culinary prowess; but also challenged the chefs, pushing them beyond the boundaries of their usual repertoire.

In the kitchen, two of Bangkok’s renowned Michelin chefs, who were among the youngest chefs to receive Michelin stars last year – Riley Sanders (Executive Chef, Canvas) and Sujira ‘Aom’ Pongmorn (Chef de Cuisine and Owner, Saawaan) – cooked side by side to create mounth-watering themed meals using local Thai produce from various provinces, while Arisara ‘Paper’ Chongphanitkul (Chef Pâtissière, Saawaan) created a special impressive dessert with modern presentation. Menu highlights included Fried Sweet Yam and Salted
, a delightful play on Thai snack “Kanom Kai Nok Krata”; inspired by “Som Tum Pu Ma Egg Blue Swimmer Crab
Dong”; ; ; and concluded with . Roasted Pork in Lime Broth Thai Wagyu Kluay Nam Wa Ice Cream

Stay tuned for the upcoming editions of the MICHELIN Guide Dining Series 2019 to be held in June (Savelberg and J’AIME by Jean-Michel Lorain), August (PRU and Gaa), and November (a surprise collaboration to wrap up 2019)!
