Independent Australian-owned tour booking portal The Big Bus tour and travel guide has marked a new phase of development with the launch of a new-look booking website and the acquisition of a Trade Mark (subject to opposition period).

The Big Bus tour and travel guide, which was launched in 2014 as the travel blog of the Tour the World travel television series on Network Ten, will now offer a more streamlined customer experience for users booking tours, activities and experiences in Melbourne and Sydney, with the upgrade to be extended to users booking tours in Brisbane, Perth, Hobart and Adelaide in the coming months. Designed by 23 Digital in Melbourne, upgrades include improved product filtering, improved cart functionality, a wish list function, and the ability to set up an account to view bookings and transactions.

The presentation of editorial content on the site – including city guides, tour reviews and travel tips – has also been enhanced with a larger font size, improved image quality and greater use of video content.

In addition to tour sales in Australia’s key capital city markets, The Big Bus tour and travel guide will continue to focus on the promotion of regional tourist centres through editorial content. In recent months, the website has published travel guides to Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, Albury Wodonga, Bathurst, Wollongong, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Albany and Esperance, and more are on the way including Mackay and WA’s South West.

The Big Bus tour and travel guide’s 2018 application to IP Australia for a Trade Mark was recently accepted and is now subject to the mandatory two-month opposition period.

‘We are really excited about this new phase in The Big Bus tour and travel guide’s development, and the prospect of continuing to promote the best of Australian tourism’, said managing editor and travel commentator Adam Ford. ‘We look forward to working with tour operators across the country, and we will continue to provide a highly personalised approach to every booking and ensure that our customers and readers gain real value by dealing with a local tour and travel portal.
