Next November Rio de Janeiro will be hosting the AdventureNEXT Latin America, one of the world’s main events of ecotourism and adventure tourism. The forum, which brings together hundreds of professionals from different countries, is organized by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) and aims to develop tourism in destinations with a vocation for adventure tourism. “The fair brings content, business roundtables, and experiences to those who want to know more about this segment. Today, Brazil is one of the main destinations for ecotourism and adventure tourism”, says ATTA director, Gustavo Timo.

This is what the international ranking Best Countries showed in 2018. The largest country in South America was voted the best destination in the world for ecotourism and adventure tourism through a survey that analyzed 80 countries and interviewed 21,000 tourists. The variety of activities, its friendly people and natural beauties were emphasized. It was precisely the long coastline and paradisiacal beaches that, according to the tourists interviewed, gave Brazil the top position for the third consecutive year. And to find unspoiled beaches you don’t have to get away from the big cities.

Rio de Janeiro is the main gateway for foreign tourists in Brazil, receiving more than 2 million foreign visitors annually, according to Embratur, a Brazilian tourism promotion company. The second largest Brazilian metropolis, world-famous for its urban beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon, also hides preserved sites a few minutes away from the City Center. The list includes beaches like Prainha, Grumari, Perigoso, Meio, Funda and Inferno, located in the Westerns Zone, as well as hiking trails and parks.
