The Darling at The Star Sydney has been honoured with a Forbes Five-Star Rating for the fourth
consecutive year and remains the only luxury hotel in NSW to hold the industry’s highest honour. The Forbes Travel Guide is the only independent, global rating system in the luxury travel sector and has been the gold standard in the hospitality industry since 1958.

Released today, the 2020 Forbes Travel Guide confirms The Darling a coveted position as one of the finest hotels in the world. Those acknowledged in the past include Claridge’s and The Savoy in
London, the Ritz-Carlton in New York, the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, and the Ritz in Paris.

Damian Quayle, Chief Operating Officer at The Star Sydney said the Five-Star rating was a further
honour for The Darling. He also announced a further $25 million investment at The Darling to ensure the hotel retained its position as Sydney’s No.1 for guest service and comfort.

“To be recognised among the best luxury hotels in the world by Forbes Travel Guide is a testament
to our team’s commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences,” Mr Quayle said.

“Individually, and together, team members at The Darling are dedicated to creating unique, thrilling
and truly memorable moments while ensuring our guests maintain a sense of having a home away
from home.

“The Forbes Travel Guide rating ensures The Darling continues to be the benchmark for luxury hotels in Sydney, and we’re extremely proud to have warranted that recognition from Forbes for four years in a row.”

To continue to deliver unsurpassed guest experiences, The Star’s investment plans include
significant enhancements and refurbishments at the 171 room luxury all-suite hotel, with work to
commence later this year.

The refurbishments will be headlined by in room technology including a tablet that provides guests
with full room functionality including dining menus, lighting and self-check-out; specially designed
sensory lighting that creates a warm and welcoming arrival experience and a re-imagining of the
mini-bar experience into a hidden gem that’s set to surprise and delight guests.

Mr Quayle added: “This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to increasing The Star’s appeal as an international tourism and entertainment destination.

“We’re dedicated to developing the best luxury accommodation as well as world-class bar, dining
and entertainment offerings available that will lead to more tourists, more jobs and a stronger local
economy.”

Filip Boyen, CEO of Forbes Travel Guide said: “The Darling continues to prove why it is top of its game in Sydney. It represents luxury, not only with its stunning modern design but with thoughtful service ensuring guests don’t need to lift a finger.”

“The Darling gets all of the little details right from handwritten notes to perfect food presentation. We congratulate the staff and leadership for their 2020 award.”
