Trendy hot pot dining destination, The Drunken Pot, trail blazes the path in the culinary scene by introducing an inspirational special menu in celebration of art season. Inspired by Alice in the Wonderland, The Drunken Pot’s whimsical creations embody the essence of fluidity and boundlessness of art, available from 11 February to 31 May 2019, perfectly in time for Valentine’s Day.

Bringing the concept of a lush wonderland into a spring appropriate setting, The Dream Garden of Live Flowers Hot Pot Broth (HK$388) is a feast for the eyes and the stomach.  Combining a selection of five signature soup bases including Sichuan-style Numbingly Spicy SoupChicken with Chinese Medicine Soup, Laksa Seafood Soup, Black Truffle with Assorted Mushroom Soup, and Whole Papaya with Snow Fungus in Soup. The broth is topped with a smooth egg white to enhance the texture of the soup bases; sprinkled with colourful edible flowers, this edible work of art is further elevated with dry ice with the Whole Papaya with Snow Fungus in Soup, making this a truly Instagrammable work of art.

Celebrating love and artistic delicacy is the crimson coloured Red Rose Dumplings (HK$88 / 3 pcs). It is adorned with silver touches and makes for an impressive dish to share with loved ones.

The Glitzy Cuttlefish Balls (HK$108 / 7 pcs) are edible pieces of art – the colourful shell of each cuttlefish ball mimics that of the rainbow; and hides the taro paste that fills each bite. Truly avant-garde is Penguins in Love (HK$98 / 3 pcs) – cuttlefish paste shaped into adorable coloured penguins sit atop ice, with edible glitter giving a sparkling effect to the dish.

“Hot pot is all about inviting individuals to express their creativity through food, lending multiple interpretations to a classic and integral Hong Kong culinary experience,” shares Ms Vivien Shek. “Like art, hot pot has no boundaries and that is why our menu features fantastical anthropomorphic creatures, such as our crowd-pleasing colourful penguins, adorable piglets, cuddly bears and lovable ducklings.”

This culinary foray into the realm of art through taste is simultaneously joined by a journey of visual art, curated to match the ethos of The Drunken Pot.

Since launching in 2015, The Drunken Pot has become a social media phenomenon for its winning concept of ‘new age’ hotpots at The Drunken Pot Tsim Sha Tsui, themed after a rustic fishing market at 2/F, No.8 Observatory Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, and The Drunken Pot Causeway Bay, with breath-taking views over Victoria Harbour at 27/F, V Point, 18 Tang Lung Street, Causeway Bay.

Both restaurants have reinvented the hotpot tradition, bursting with energy and contemporary style against the backdrop of trendy ‘street art’ and chill-out music with spicy urban grooves.
