The Hollywood Roosevelt Announces Packed Lineup of “Roosevelt Happenings” for Summer 2019

In celebration of the official start of summer, The Hollywood Roosevelt announced today exciting new “Roosevelt Happenings” for locals and guests to enjoy at the newly restored David Hockney-painted Tropicana Pool, ranging from a weekly collection of poolside events, intimate musical acts and experiential F&B offerings at Public Kitchen & Bar, all catering to summertime pleasure seekers.

Reinventing the “summer of fun” Hollywood Roosevelt style, hotel favorites such as Yoga on the Bridge, a Hollywood Bowl “Grab and Go” picnic and Night Swim Pool Parties are back and joined by new events, including an intimate Jazz Symposium with world-renowned classically trained musicians, a new Magic Show concept, and collaborations with Stoned Fox, bringing a stylish and bohemian vibe to Tropicana Pool.

“Just in time for the summer solstice and to celebrate our recently restored Tropicana Pool adorned with a mural painted by David Hockney, we’re excited to launch a jam-packed array of events suited for every type of personality,” says Don Jacinto, Regional Vice President of Journal Hotels and Managing Director The Hollywood Roosevelt, “With the upcoming lineup, the Hollywood Roosevelt continues its reputation as a purveyor of unexpected entertainment experiences fusing Hollywood history, culture and fashion.”

Can’t-miss weekly events now through August include the following:

  • Eat Your Drink: 6 pm-2 am Wednesday and Thursday nights, star mixologist Matthew Biancaniello (of A&E’s “Good Spirits”) takes up residency in Library Bar, where he curates custom cocktails made from exotic, fresh ingredients that are ornately strewn across the bar as Matthew personally prepares his creations for each guest. July dates include July 17, 18, 24 and 25, and August dates include August 7 ,8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, and 29
  • Why Work Wednesday Pool Party: 12 pm-6 pm, Resident DJs, Patron Margaritas and Page Turner cocktail specials for $14
  • Wednesday Night Swim Pool Party: 8 pm-12 am
  • Forever Fridays Pool Party: 12 pm-2 pm, Open to the public, Resident DJs and Casamigos Margaritas for $14 and Dom Perignon by the glass for $45
  • Secret Saturdays Pool Party: 12 pm-6 pm, Open to the Public, Resident DJs, Don Julio Margaritas + Ketel One Rosy Radler Cocktail specials for $14
  • Yoga on the Bridge: Every Saturday morning from 10:30 am-11:30 am and in partnership with CorePower Yoga. Hotel guests can say “Om” on the Bridge and treat themselves after their session with complimentary Ketel One Bloody Mary’s to get the weekend started

  • The Magic Show with Franco Pascali: The elegant, upscale and mysterious experience in the hotel’s hidden, unmarked theater and from the front man behind the wildly popular Netflix series “Magic for Humans,” welcomes a brand-new star magician, Franco Pascali. Debuting mid-summer, Pascali will bring a completely new set of tantalizing tricks to the unforgettable show revered by celebrities and tastemakers including Neil Patrick Harris and Shay Mitchell.   • JAZZ:||:SYMPOSIUM at Teddy’s Bar, July 11: 8 pm-10 pm, JAZZ:||:SYMPOSIUM performs complete conceptual works from iconic composers such as Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock and Art Blakely and tastefully intertwines these works with spontaneous improvisations on the trumpet, tenor saxophone, piano, bass and drums. Open to the public, the July 11 show will be dedicated to Miles Davis and the iconic album “Kind of Blue.” Guests may purchase tickets online or at the door. Jazz symposium members include Gerrit Kinkel on trumpet, Jordan Donald on saxophone, Doug Carter on piano, Jimi Hawes on bass and Aaron Williams on drums
  • Vintage Market at Tropicana Garden, July 20: from 11 am-5 pm. Shop and mingle poolside with independent designers, vintage vendors and local artists including The Vault 1969, Chelsea VonMach and Carny Couture
  • Stoned Fox Pool Party, July 20: 12 pm-6 pm with Stoned Fox Media, DJ Lola Langusta and Les Filles
  • Robert Craig Wine Dinner, July 27: Join Napa Valley’s Robert Craig Winery CEO Elton Stone for a night of exquisite wine-and-chef-driven meal pairings, tastings and spirited musings at Public Kitchen & Bar, preceded by a special VIP Penthouse Reception with Elton before the dinner.   • New Keto Friendly In-Room Market Menu: As part of the hotel’s commitment to catering to a wide variety of dietary restrictions and needs, the new Keto-Friendly Market Menu features an All-Day Bento Box where guests can choose from proteins like wild caught king salmon, a grass fed beef patty, Jidori chicken, or tofu with two hard boiled eggs, bocconcini and roasted pistachios.   • Spare Room: The Evening of Tiki summer series has officially launched and features the best and brightest cocktail talent from around the world. Alongside beverage director Yael Vengroff, who was named American Bartender of the Year at Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards last year, each guest bartender creates a special, over-the-top tiki-inspired menu for one night only, along with food pairings and DJs.
