The Islands of Tahiti, a destination renowned for its unparalleled natural scenery and warm hospitality, is offering travelers a unified policy for changes and cancellations related to Covid-19 travel concerns.

The agreement has been signed by Air Tahiti Nui, the major international air carrier, Air Tahiti, the domestic airline, by most of the hotels and by several tourism professionals.

The specifics of the agreement apply to cancellations and change requests for any new reservation made between May 1 and September 30, 2020 for travel within French Polynesia between July 15, 2020 and June 30, 2021.

The cancellation or change fees will be waived in the case of:

  • a lock down in the client’s country of residence,
  • the inability to travel to French Polynesia due to the closure of the borders in transit stops,
  • a lock down in French Polynesia
  • the inability to travel to French Polynesia for a traveler whose Covid-19 test preceding departure was found to be positive
  • the inability to a stay in French Polynesia for a traveler declared positive while in French Polynesia

For prepaid trip, reimbursement will be done at the latest within 12 months from the initial date of booking.

As an additional level of goodwill towards travelers, all the suppliers within the destination who signed the agreement, pledge to not increase any pricing until March 31, 2022.

“We know that in these times our travelers face uncertainty when booking their trip. We wish to offer them peace of mind when choosing to travel to our islands.” says Jean-Marc Mocellin, CEO of Tahiti Tourisme.

The Islands of Tahiti are welcoming visitors with a “Reconnect with the World” campaign highlighting the many ways in which one can travel safety, enjoy vast natural spaces and revive their senses in a pristine tropical paradise. Learn more at http://tahititourisme.com.au
