A solidarity chain embraced all around the world: Enit is by Venice’s side following the damage caused by bad weather and floods, with a virtual network of its 28 Italian National Tourist offices abroad.

An immediate coverage that allows information on the region that has been hit by heavy floods to be shared in detail and to activate the necessary support to guard and restore the locations that make Italy an unparalleled destination.

The Italian National Tourist Board has alerted its offices asking for maximum updated coverage for the city of Venice through all its social media accounts. “Venice in the heart” is the campaign that has been launched by the local council to make the city shine once again and that has already begun to rebuild, restore and fix the damages, but there is still much that needs to be done. The council has opened a bank account for donations from Italy and abroad.

The safeguard of Venetian tourism is fundamental for the Italian economy. International visitors, equalling 86% of the total have increased by +3,5% compared to 2017, while the domestic market which totals 14% has increased by  +4,8%, taking the total visitor growth to +3,7%. In 2019 from January to July, Venice has witnessed growth compared to the same period in 2018 (+6,5% between January and July 2018). In 2018 international visitors in the Venice municipality increased by  +13,5% compared to the previous year.

Foreign expenditure comes close to 3 million Euros with an increase of +5,8% compared to 2017.

“Venice is safe reassures the President of ENIT Italian National Tourist Board  Giorgio Palmucci encouraging to not give up on bookings as visitors aren’t in any danger”. In fact it is through these difficulties that the 5.0 tourist must show its character and soul as a traveller and the evolution that has characterised it throughout these years”.
