The Makokola Retreat, a luxury development situated on the golden sands of Malawi’s Mangochi Lakeshore, have given their superior rooms a makeover ready to welcome guests in 2021.
The Superior Beach Rooms, which face out across the Makokola gardens with views of Lake Malawi too, provide guests with their own private terrace for personal relaxation. The rooms have been fitted with brand new air-conditioning and satellite TV’s as well as mini fridges and electronic safes for convenience. Ensuite facilities are provided for each room with showers. As well as a range of new furniture hand-crafted by local artisans, all rooms have been finished to a superb standard with vaulted, thatched roofs and hanging chandeliers adding stunning character above. Some rooms have been extended to offer more space too.
The superior beach rooms are designed with couples and corporate guests in mind, but are also perfect for small families with a sofa bed included in each room. Families with children aged 3 years below can request a baby cot to be placed in each room.
With an eco-friendly and sentimental approach, Makokola have recycled most of the furniture of the old superior beach rooms and reused them in new innovative pieces for the renovated rooms. The aim was also to maintain a piece of the old “Club Mak” as it was originally known. Bearing all future development plans of the property in mind, the hotel didn’t want to lose that piece of the hotel’s history.
So far eight of the fourteen superior beach rooms have been redeveloped with the other six due to be completed later this year.
With their Private Lake Suites development launched in 2018, and this makeover of their Superior Beach Rooms, the Makokola Retreat is continuing to maintain and enhance its excellent standards as one of Lake Malawi’s premier accommodations.
