With Prahran Town Hall restorations take place, the library will move to its temporary home in what has become the community heart of Prahran. The library joins the new Stonnington Services and Visitors Hub also opening at Prahran Square.

Regular library services will be available at the new library, where guests can browse, borrow and read from popular collections, collect reservations and use free Wi-Fi.

City of Stonnington Chief Executive Officer Jacqui Weatherill said the new Prahran Library @ Prahran Square will be a valuable community resource.

“The new library will offer people of all ages and stages the opportunity to search for jobs, and a space to conduct research, experience new ideas and get immersed in books, while offering a sense of inclusivity and community,” she said.

“We know that during lockdown, locals missed spending time at their library, which is why Council has pushed hard to make this relocation happen as soon as possible.

“The new Stonnington Services and Visitors Hub has been designed to be interactive and engaging and will be a flexible and inclusive space for all,” said Ms Weatherill.

“The Stonnington Services and Visitors Hub will provide residents, visitors and businesses the opportunity to do all their Council business, complete cashless transactions, get visitor information, provide feedback and attend consultations.”

The Hub also features a Business Development Lounge for online and face-to-face appointments in mentoring, coaching and consultation with businesses and traders.

“The open plan configuration will accommodate multiple services and programs from the one location, making interactions with Council easier,” said Ms Weatherill.

The Stonnington Services and Visitor Hub space opens on 2 December and all services and facilities will be fully compliant with current and future COVID-19 requirements.
