Celebrating Christmas is extra sweet at The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort this year. Pastry chefs at the Pink Palace of the Pacific are putting on two special classes in December: one on cookie decorating, and another on cupcake decorating.

In the sessions led by Pastry Chefs Miki Iwai and Kristie Sagara, you’ll learn to pipe icing and decorate Christmas-themed cookies and cupcakes. Both chefs are excited to share their tips and ideas that they use when decorating sweets in the pastry kitchen during the Christmas holidays. The following two classes will be offered:

Cookies and Cocoa: Participants will stack star-shaped cookies to create a gingerbread Christmas tree with Chef Miki Iwai on Thursday, December 19. As a bonus, Iwai will lead the class in creating a snowman-themed cocoa mix in a mason jar.

Cupcakes: Chef Kristie Sagara leads her class in decorating five mini cupcakes to create a cupcake Christmas wreath on Saturday, December 21.

Participants are welcomed at 10 a.m. and will be treated to a cup of creamy hot chocolate and delicious pastries baked by The Royal Hawaiian Pastry team at the start of each Christmas themed decorating class. Instruction begins at 10:15 a.m. and runs until 11:30 a.m. And everyone leaves with their beautifully decorated gingerbread Christmas tree or cupcake designed wreath.

The cost of each class is $45 per person with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Susan G. Komen Hawaii – Race to the Cure. Children ages 5 years and older are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. Classes are located at The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort in the newly renovated Regency Ballroom I. Casual attire is recommended and participants should consider bringing along an apron.
